that the role of philosophy is to become prepared for death....

to face death with equanimity..... to be cool, calm and collective in the face
of death...but I say that is wrong... that is the wrong event, we should be
preparing for.....

it is life we should face with equanimity... with mental calmness, composure
and evenness of temper, especially in difficult situations....

so I am 62... I have faced life for 62 years... and I expect to face it for many more years,
but death, I will face it only once, many years from seems to me, that we are faced
with life far longer then we are faced with death.. and given that we are faced with
life for our entire life, we should engage in equanimity within our life, not our death....

we can't even be sure what will be the nature of our death, long and slow or quick
and relatively painless? who knows? so why prepare for our death when we are faced
with life every single minute of the day?

life is right here and right now.... death is some far off future which we might not
even be ready for.... so I say, let us work on having equanimity during our life, not
for our death......
