The Iron Gods, the Earthy Gods

Odin gave us the Runes. The Runes gave us Odin, and the other Gods, who are worthy of us.

What a bliss to be given Gods that are worthy.

Do you know what this is like?

Or have you only experienced the soothing, softening mellowness of the Christ-Child?

I have endured this softness, as it has pervaded our culture, and sensed it eat at me. Even though I never chose it, it hung in the air.
It endures no violence. It endures no friction in the soul. It says: all that is must be relinquished, all the will come is at ease. It wants to relax, to sink, to lie flat on the surface of the ocean-floor. It wants not to breathe. It wants no pain.

Beautiful things are made from that mold. As excess is expelled and set free - 'in tongues' - only god knows what is said. It is all sexual and violent. But it is 'gibberish'.

Ah the gods, how lucidly they speak and how well we understand. But how hard it is to communicate all that!

This is because what we understand of that god transforms us, away from the world. The Christ god, who is the humanist Ideal, is sweet and soothing, and moving us away from the world. Whenever the world gives itself, one shirks back as if pricked by thorns. And the world is sharp, and the thorn is the entrance to the world. Through our own blood we learn to taste.

Then there is the path through the mud. Somewhere along that path, the animals begin to look us in the eye.

At the end of the path a figure rises.

This thread endures only the half spoken, the best left half unsaid, the religious.
Scorn on the man who tries to reason about the Gods.

Blake was right that reason is the circumference of energy. He had his reasons, but he did not reason - his was a form of reason that expressed itself in energy.
Words are energy, not reason - when enough words are given, their contradict each other enough so that 'logic' can be discerned....

mighty contraption, from which the least orderly forces emit.

Now, that we have come to know the Earthy god as someone who likes pain, we shall discern him from the Ascetic.
The Ascetic endures a controlled degree of pain every waking moment all throughout his daily existence, whereby he is make keen to pain and to things that cause it and is able to walk around relatively untroubled. Pleasure to him is the degree of pain as it is controlled. He seeks no excess in pleasure, instead he seeks the limits of the pain he can endure, inflicting it on himself.

The Earthy god gives a state that does not prepare for pain, but simply heads in its way. It is prepared for the unexpected. It uses the thorns and hail on its path to become aware of himself, in his most innocent form; the form of having-just-encountered. The shaken-ness, the state we can not fake unless we have transcended into a permanent touch with - the state we enjoy to see most on anothers face; the laughter of love caused by a child in one who has already seen the dead ends of life.

And in the barn, the maiden wormed a path through the cows.

There is no light at the tunnel yet. There won't be any for a long time. This is a place in the dark, where mysteries are seen so as to be taken for coincidental paths of mineral forming in a granite wall -
Once the torch of the pathwalker passes these tracings, the gates will open somewhat, but

It is not in my power to illuminate.
I rumble merely to express.

Now the line of runes in Jakobs signature is called the Armanen runes.
It is a very aesthetic and slick set compiled, or evision, by an Austrian mystic in a spell of temporary blindless after a cataract.

Very strange modifications occurred.
First of all the Ansuz rune has been reversed; the 'branches' now go out left, rather than right.
I wonder what could possibly have compelled this change.

The greatest problem with the Armanen runes is that Dagaz is excluded. This, the mightiest rune perhaps, represents the breakthrough, the coming above ground, the establishment of the light, basically a non-moral Good; Daylight.

It is a supremely powerful and lofty rune.
Like Othala,

another supreme rune representing accomplishment, reality, this rune found no place in Von Lists row. But I think they were already left out of the 'younger futhark' -

Unlike Dagaz, Othala was employed extensively by the nazis, as representing their heritage and homeland.

All the images that the Odinic traditions give us are wholesome.
Imagine trying to make a thread like this about Christianity. It would not be possible even to find a single wholesome image of Jesus Christ.

The power of the runes, in which the entire power of this shamanism is resplendent, Ive come to see in the hard angles. This is health.
Somehow, juxtaposition, sharp cuts, hard measures, unmistakable decisions - all this accounts for health.

A people bred over generations to never hesitate in the face of specific physical dangers, to always make decisions with force and without second thoughts, this is what the runes speak.

The whole coherence of the world, the entire force that keeps it together, might be evoked best by bringing to mind the range from weak to strong in terms of decision making.
Usually, we men make decisions about things that are already in the process of being decided, by a collective of many forces. But all magic treats the state of affairs where reality is still fluid, under the surface of the present moment, becoming.
God-systems are powerful because/when they address the world right before it appears.
This is how the runes are drawn.
The manifest as the tension of their angles and then use the man, or the tree, or the wind and the bird to appear.

Where this intention resides, I do not know. "In Odin", one might say - but Odin too found the runes, at the mercy of a greater force - he hung from the tree Yggdrasil which has its roots where no one knows.

Like Blakean visions, the Odinic visions treat of the worlds between worlds; the formative stages, the phases of existence where things are still in the process of emerging against the void, it does not treat of objects but of states and types of development. Yes, this is how science operates as well, at the most powerful level. But it is not how man is accustomed to think, not of science nor of himself.

Things are real right before they appear. When they appear, they have become appearances.

Absolutely revolting. Now I'll have to put you on ignore. And I Don't even have anything against your writing.
But it's clear that you don't get what religion is.

Cattle (dutch: Vee)

Archetype: WEALTH

The cattle come slowly though the mud from the north. The bulls horns are adorned with iron. The cows, a trail longer than the eye can see in the january mist, will provide wealth, meat and milk. Newly woven baskets with fine flowers on long stems in them are carried by girls standing along the path. The tower of brick and natural stone is visible above the welcoming.

A beginning of a prosperous phase. The winter as a time of reward; a time given to the rich, the happy. Endless festivities, music, stories told in great halls to many happy feasters. Outside the forests are unthreatening, well guarded by archers in thick yet silent leather in which they move well and swiftly, trained by long standing tradition. Villains are shown some mercy. ... er-flowers

A Great Beast (dutch association: oer-os)

Archetype: STRENGTH

Pure masculine power. Raw energy, completely unconditioned. Unacceptable standards of strength. A mans maximal capacity for lust. The drive that causes murder and war. Blindness of losing oneself in what one is without goals.

Digging downward-forward. Ploughing through life and leaving fertile chaos and upheaval as a trail. Mammoth strength. Marching barbarian army. The synchronized heartbeats of a million soldiers. Drums in the deep.

Roar of a monstrous predator already too close to see. Encroaching darkness. Male Earth. Pillars being drilled into the ground. Pillars being raised. Primordial phallic strength. Brute rhythms.

Excess force flows back into the Earth. The kundalini turned downward.

The need for resistance. Powerful jaw. Raging bull. Walking the Earth in search of pain to grow by. To know oneself the hard way.

Titanic determination. All or death. The force that blindly enslaves. Strength that builds empires.

Archetype: VIOLENCE

Rip, thorn. Ragged, drawn out tear in the fabric. Gaping black out of which monsters (can) come. White teeth, cat teeth, sharks, or the horns of a bull. Wrathful, seriously pissed, lightning hurled down in irritation, flat, hard ramming. Then, silence to lick the wounds and wait until the beep subsides.

The Thurisaz rune initiates the world into the heart of a man, the awesomeness he loves in youth so as to not grow cowardly in age. Memory of disorienting rattling and wounds, a leg stuck to a spike, sudden blood, mesmerizing pain that forgets the future and becomes the now.

The blow of the axe, the small setback in the weaving of a fine fabric. The error around which we seek for re-perfection. In this sense Thurisaz is the father to god or the religious instinct. But it is not the religious instinct, rather the opposite. That which ruptures and ravishes before the maiden is ready.

Cruel bindings, love of life's zig-zag motions, a too sharp curve in a roller-coaster, a voice breaking, becoming hoarse and truthful. A nail struck right on the head. A single hailstone that comes through the roof and splits the table, shattering the grails and goblets, then laughter and wine and gratitude for life.

Ancestral God

A secret carved into a tree. The purest of love.

Truth earned.
A wizard appearing in the woods.

A sacred breath in a cave
that sets the walls aglow

Markings appear. A path turns out to have been walked in the dark on uncanny instinct.

Reward for an effort subconsciously made.
Nobility of the will. Death of fear. Ancient innocence.

The first secrets a child learns and keeps in his breast, that will eventually destroy or ennoble him.
dark fears turned to forbidden hopes.
Danger to the soul experienced as the sap pushed upward in a tree.
The knowledge that life, and all being, is change; and the realization following inevitably from that about ones own power.

Respect for speech.
Telling silence(s).

A point of no return. A decison. Madness or certainty beyond good and evil.

Drawing blood to sacntify life. Writing with blood.

The deep silences between the beats of the heart as one knocks on the doors of initiation.

Crossing the threshold of death by the power of friendship. The promise made by the acts of the hero.

Odin, and all noble gods. Love of the Earth. Loyalty. Truth. Undying joy of being.

Brotherhoods in which each is proud to be able to regard the others as superior. Ascension.

Rise of the sun behind a sharp rocky edge. Morning promises to the mountaineer. Bonds made in the wild. Culture before it collapses into civilization. Pinnacle of spirit.

Race against time. Rippling force. Cool cats. Privilege, the diving board, the gasping audience in the corner of ones eye. Wild roots, noble lineage of the arrow, racecar, radical crash and burn from which one emerges with a nochalance putting the Phoenix to shame.

Loaded weapon, tense staring, waiting for the fire to fill the void. Natural woman, hot legs in business skirt, clack clack heels on corporate marble, ready to set the room on fire. The swoosh of the heavy door opened with force. Beginning of a fight already won. Confidence.

Warhead painted with flames and pinups. Han Solo jumpstarting the Millennium Falcon. Kicking up dust, leaving the competition coughing and cursing. Curving spacetime around ones velocity. Rule of Mach. People and machines nicknamed Thunderbolt.

Crossing the Equator. Handling great changes like the beating of ones own heart. Thriving on adrenaline. Fearlessness, the wind in ones back. Fast metal riffs. Horses storming forward, crossing the river in a few frenzied seconds. The battlecry that merges with the thundering hoofs.

Active happiness. The joy of him who turned out well. Having passed the test, having become the test.

Kindling. Having gone to the source. Candle over an ancient scroll. Unfolding a scroll. Crackling in the dark. Bending the knee. Heat from inside. Mystery. Small seeming danger, that which ignorance hates and wishes to crack, what lures a child into the woods. A crooked smile of a crow passing by. Friendliness that has its secret price. Initiation. "You're part of it now." The campfire, stories you might miss the point of. A knowing smile. Contempt. An offer you should maybe refuse.

The crooked path that brings back truth. The truth that came at a price. Cynicism. Masked pride, knowledge, the indirect path. The questionmark. The slightly tilted head as one listens patiently to a lie. The secret history of the paintings on the wall. The fleece that masks the light to give it a face.

The cause to the fools jealousy. The pinprick that infuriates. The heights pride alone can not attain. The step, the phase, the winding stairs. The corner, and what waits around it. Maybe.

Connecting two worlds. The threshold and its dwellers. The torch that casts mainly shadows. Flickering shadows. Unseen lightsource. The glimmer of light in the elders eyes. A wink. Calculated, small offense. Being made to question ones morals. The questionable worth of ones morals. The truth that is out there, deep inside the worlds bosom and the magicians mind. Subtle dangers. A segment of the red thread. The labyrinth. Folly of of looking back. Sources having disappeared or closed behind ones back. The possibility of true closeness. Intimacy through experience. Exclusion, exclusivity. The invisibly moving curtain. The motions that induce hypnosis. Words that float in the air and come back with you up the dark stairs and into the sleep, the fire that has been played with.

The distance between question and answer. Apprehension. suspension of judgment. The path that turns into the goal. The equator replacing the equation. How knowledge must be power or is a trap.

The quick flick of the hand, the trick, the click. Loki as a friend. Vo. The burning away of the general, burning pages full of hollow words to leave a red glimmer that points to the depth of nightly knowledge. Meeting each other half way and finding ancient treasure buried there.

Walking with open eyes between two worlds. The owl. Gain through translation. The power of value.

Wisdom that seems like luck. An act impossible to follow. Shedding followers. Meeting true friends. Philosophers.

when ends meet
open arms
all over the map
love paralysis
inner compass
collision of tectonic axes

a moment of peaceful relating in a storm
gathering of forces
intentions for the long term
sacrifice of self to joy
new beginning
first motion
center of silence
primordial sigh
which carries forth not all, but the light yet full of heart alone
spirits that travel from heart to heart...
a kings-cross where roads end up
and where a city is born

Bigger than self
Gyfu, gives, grants, gratifies and ingratiates the many that met their match and remains godlike, elusive to those that wander alone, always one road, waiting to be crossed, star-struck.
