Hey, Ms Nat. Great to hear from you.
I pass by every so often and check my PM's but haven't seen anything from you? Did you send me something? If so, I didn't get it.

I hope you got the "Happy New Year" message I sent... around 1989, I think? It was such a long time ago I forgot. Anyway, send me a PM.

LOL. I thought there was an anti-pop message in there? Commies hate pop -- unless it's something like this:

If there was a father of Oz music, it would be Nick Cave. He’s been around since the 70’s and riding through every wave.

Grinderman is a band formed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (another legend). Ms Nat’s a Nick Cave fan so enjoy Natasha.

Thank you, Chakra. I LOVE Nick Cave! These songs are great! I especially enjoyed ‘Worm Tamer’ and ‘Honey Bee’ which was a featured song on an HBO show called ‘True Detective’. Great show and Honey Bee fit perfectly. We’re hearing more Nick Cave in mainstream TV shows lately. In ‘Honey Bee’, you can pick up a bit of Dick Dales surf guitar style, which blends perfectly with Nick Caves sound.

Yeah, the ones above are fun rock 'n roll but not the definitive Mr Cave.

natasha wrote:We’re hearing more Nick Cave in mainstream TV shows lately.

Interesting... In the youtube comments section I've seen a large percentage of people say they found NC by hearing songs played in TV shows or video games. I don't have a TV (never have had) and don't play video games so I can't imagine NC in a TV series or video game slaying dragons and what not LOL but if it get people into his music, then so be it.

Good pick. I missed that.

I thought I posted a lot of NC in this thread but it turns out I only made one post years ago. The stuff I thought I posted, must have been on ILO so, while I'm here...

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS - THERE SHE GOES, MY BEAUTIFUL WOLD (LIVE)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoCLqNepagg
Some of the lyrics:

John Wilmot penned his poetry
Riddled with the pox
Nabokov wrote on index cards,
At a lectern, in his socks
St. John of the Cross did his best stuff
Imprisoned in a box
And JohnnyThunders was half alive
When he wrote Chinese Rocks…..

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

Karl Marx squeezed his carbuncles
While writing Das Kapital
And Gaugin, he buggered off, man
And went all tropical
While Philip Larkin stuck it out
In a library in Hull
And Dylan Thomas died drunk in
St. Vincent's hospital

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS – MORE NEWS FROM NOWHERE
This was filmed in a London strip club. The staff and clients in the video are semi famous English celebrities, writers, producers, musos, socialites etc. The late Peaches Geldof makes an appearance at around the 3:00 min mark. By wearing a 'St KIlda Beach' T-shirt, it seems Cave is having a dig at the place where he grew up.

NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS – O CHILDREN
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Ms9wTLEg8
Pass me that lovely little gun
My dear, my darling one
The cleaners are coming, one by one
You don’t even want to let them start

They are knocking now upon your door
They measure the room, they know the score
They’re mopping up the butcher’s floor
Of your broken little hearts

O children
Forgive us now for what we’ve done

It started out as a bit of fun
Here, take these before we run away
The keys to the gulag

O children
Forgive us now for what we’ve done

COVERS : POP ROCK / ACOUSTIC / MISCELLANEOUS
These are some covers I like. I prefer covers that have a creative take on the original songs rather than sounding like a tribute band playing in a karaoke bar so I tend to like the more quirky takes. The links should jump straight to the where the music starts - sometimes a minute or so into the clip.

ROCK / BLUES

Jimmy Barnes is an old Oz pub-rock screamer from the AC/DC era and Joe Bonamassa is one of the best American blues guitarist around.
Put them together... add a handful of old boomers... and you have this.

Ha!! Not a problem, derleydoo. Patience is a virtue if you're waiting on me. I posted that particular 'Help' video because hearing Farnham do the song like the original is very rare and I liked the two versions together. Anyway, back to the grind stone for me. I'm looking forward to having more time down the track to post more but that won't be for a while...
