I read ILP in dismay.... we have become the enemy by resorting to
the lowest level of human discourse...insults and violent language....

the right resorts to this lower level of discourse of insults and violent
language because they can't do anything else... that is all they have.....

we on the left, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard then
mere insults and violent language...

let think about the caveman...... a caveman can only act as a caveman
because he doesn't have the tools of language and making choices,
that we moderns have....a caveman has violence and anger and hatred
because a caveman is all about instincts and the lower level of existence.....

they cannot rise to be human because they have no choice but to
resort to violence and insults.. they have no other choices.....

but we on the left reject the caveman because of the caveman reliance
on violence and insults...we can make the choice to become a higher/better
human being.... and we do make the choice, all the time.....

while the right is stuck and frozen into being cavemen.. because they can't
do anything else...that is all they have, violence and hatred and anger and insults

so, prove to yourself, not to them, they aren't worth the effort, but prove to
yourself that you are human, all too human and make the choices that
reflect that you are a higher/better human being.... that is what being liberal
is all about.....

making smart, rational, human choices that lift us above being just mere
animals that only react with violence and insults.. because they can't do
anything else but react with hatred and anger and violence to any situation.....

show the world and yourself that you are above the hatred and anger
and violence that so dominates the right... show the world what a liberal
really stands for.....

peace and love and hope and justice and charity and honor and
connection and freedom and creativity and humanity and ....etc, etc...
a list of liberal/ human values...

the GOP war on minorities, the middle class, unions and the working poor
began then and hasn't stopped in over 40 years...

the alleged war on Drugs for example, was a government funded attack
on blacks and minorities.. Just say NO, were actually buzz words to
say no to blacks and minorities...and it painted a dark and dim pictures
of the blacks who were corrupting the whites with drugs, sex and rock and roll....

and the famous culture wars that began in those years were also attacks
on anyone who dared to subvert "white" culture....

the GOP has been at war for over 40 years against us, against all this, the middle class,
the working poor, minorities, unions, blacks.... so how do we end this, the
longest war in America history?

we end the GOP.....but violence has never worked against a mindset...
so what we have to do is to change that mindset....and that is the battle
we are fighting....not by violence but by exposing this long standing war
for what it is... as an attack against all of us..... Gandhi won his war by
changing the minds and hearts of his people, he didn't use weapons or violence,
because that wasn't the war he was fighting...and exactly how did Jesus win
his war against the mightiest empire the world as ever known... certainly not
by violence...you can't win that war... but you can win a war by changing the
minds and hearts of the people in the middle of this war and we can do that.......

just as right wing propaganda has won the minds and hearts of millions of people
into acting against their own best interest,, we can win the propaganda war
and set the people free to vote what is in their best interest....which is
the liberal/democratic mindset... it is a war that is fought in the media
and the schools and in the society...we give the people an alternative
viewpoint to the mind poisoning they have received over the last
40 by conservative propaganda...

we convert them by a higher, more human concept of what it means
to be human and American....

now IAM, will correctly point out that the "mindset" of liberals/democrats
is just another mindset that has equally validity.... but look at where
40 years of conservative propaganda has brought us.....where
40% of the country doesn't even believe in the basic, fundamental
principles that was set down by the founding fathers.....

where millions are out of work and a large percentage of people
are just barely eking out an day to day existence... does that sound
like success to you? I am a liberal because I believe we can and must
do better to secure the past, present and future of the people, not just
Americans but all people regardless of who they are, who they pray to,
and who they love or where they live...

our obligation is to help people and not just by making a profit or making money
off of them, but actually doing the things that matter in people's lives.....
making it easier for people to survive and prosper, and not just
when the stock market is up....in good times and in bad.....

I think citizenship is kinda like a marriage vow... In sickness and in
health, until death do us part...all that jazz....

As far as your sentiment, I understand it completely. However, I feel it is too late for that, far too late.

Imagine Jews not stooping to the level of "violence". You don't have to, because many of them didn't. Some did, of course, but far too many went peacefully into their gas chambers.

K: as this point, at this point, I don't believe that we are at the Jewish point in time...
fight or die... I don't believe that but we are certainly at the point of questioning
where we are and what it is exactly we are doing.....

we have two competing and contrasting understanding of what it means to
be human, the right and the left....I hold and I believe that history will
believe in the left's vision of what it means to be human and what are our possibilities
as humans......

one vision is backwards looking, negative, violent and corrupted......
and we on the left hold to a forward looking, positive, peaceful values.........

the battle isn't to politically overcome the right, the battle is to become
