The origins of the imperative, "know thyself", are lost in the sands of time, but the age-old examination of human consciousness continues here.

Psychology and Mind

Psychology is Freud and William James.
Mind is Einstein and Leibniz.

What we do and don't know of the mind is virtually trivial in the context of what we do and don't know of the psyche.
What we know of the psyche is instrumental to discerning the universe in which the mind exists.

The psyche is larger than the mind.
In fact, in the psyche the stuff is largely unthinkable. Freud called this law of unthinkableness the Totem.
It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed.
