Charizard Chills (Japanese: リザードン!きみにきめた!! Lizardon! I Choose You!!) is the 105th episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on July 22, 1999 and in the United States on September 2, 2000.
Ash, Tracey and Misty are sailing along on Lapras when they almost crash into another Pokémon trainer wanting to battle Ash. This trainer heard about Ash from the Trovita Island gym leader and wants to put his Pokémon up against Ash’s. When the new trainer uses a super-powerful Poliwrath on Charizard, it’s more than anyone expects. Charizard finally decides to obey and respect Ash as not only his trainer but also his friend, and the two become closer than ever!
When the most promising trainee at a Pokémon dojo abandons battle altogether, opting to gather information for his comprehensive Poké-database instead, it’s up to Ash and friends to convince him that battling, and life for that matter, is more than just a matter of probability.
The party emerges from the forest onto a beach, where in the distance they see a lighthouse, shining at the top of a cliff. The lighthouse belongs to Bill, a Pokémon researcher who is awaiting the coming of a one-of-a-kind Pokémon, never before seen by humans. Before long, a tremendously large shadow begins to take form in the sea mists, but this possible discovery could be hindered due to the infamous Team Rocket lurking in the background cooking up another one of their schemes. Could such a legendary Pokémon truly exist?
In an effort to train hard and maintain top shape for the Pokémon League, Ash decides to try some surfing. When he hits rough waters, a surfer named Victor comes to the rescue and tells Ash about a gigantic wave called Humungadunga which hits the island just once every 20 years. Having failed to ride the wave in his youth, Victor is afraid to try again so Ash and Pikachu must provide Victor with the confidence he needs to conquer Humungadunga!
Our hero is in the middle of the first match of the championship tournament at the Johto League Silver Conference. His opponent is his long time rival—Gary Oak. Each trainer is down one Pokémon, with five to go. Gary’s Blastoise is very strong and knocks out Ash’s Heracross. Ash isn’t surprised—that Blastoise was the Squirtle that Gary got when he first started out as a trainer! Gary recalls Blastoise and the battle continues. Finally, each trainer is down to their last Pokémon. Gary has saved Blastoise till the end—and Ash calls out Charizard! Blastoise has the advantage because it’s a Water Type, but Ash is very clever. He uses Charizard’s Flame Thrower attack to scorch the battle field, trapping Blastoise. Blastoise uses Hydro Pump to cool off the field, but it backfires. The field becomes all steamy and no one can see. Charizard finishes off the battle with a Seismic Toss. Ash is thrilled to have finally defeated his rival
Prime Cup (Japanese: ウルトラカップ Ultra Cup) is one of the four Stadium Cups in Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2.
In Pokémon Stadium, the Prime Cup is the only Cup that does not originate from Pokémon Yellow’s Colosseum 2. Instead, it is based on the regular Colosseum battles, which have no special limitations. As a result, all Pokémon, including powerful Legendary Pokémon such as Mewtwo, are allowed. There are no level restrictions in the Prime Cup, so all of the opponents will have level 100 Pokémon.
This is the only area in the Pokémon Stadium series where the elusive Mew and Celebi can be found. In Pokémon Stadium, the male Cooltrainer will have a Mew during the final battle of the Prime Cup division, while Cooltrainer Marty will have a Mew during the Round 1 Prime Cup in Pokémon Stadium 2. Likewise, Cooltrainer Marty will have a Celebi during the Round 2 Prime Cup in Pokémon Stadium 2. Also, Mew will be available as a rental Pokémon for Pokémon Stadium’s Round 2 Prime Cup, while Mew and Celebi will be available as rentals in Pokémon Stadium 2’s Round 2 Prime Cup.
In Pokémon Stadium, there are four levels of difficulty: Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball. In Pokémon Stadium 2, there is only one level of difficulty.
At some undetermined time, Drake became the champion of the Orange League and was recognized as the strongest Trainer in the Orange Archipelago. His partner is a Dragonite, which is easily his strongest Pokémon, as it managed to defeat three of Ash’s Pokémon in a row.
Drake debuted in Hello, Pummelo!, where he wondered when he would finally meet a challenger capable of defeating him. During his time as leader of the Orange Crew, Drake remained undefeated no matter how many challengers tried to beat his team of powerful Pokémon.
After easily foiling Team Rocket’s attempt to steal Dragonite, Drake accepted Ash’s challenge for the Winner’s Trophy. Battling in a stadium overlooked by a statue of Dragonite, Drake’s first four Pokémon fainted while only managing to defeat Lapras. In Enter the Dragonite, when Ash had four Pokémon remaining, Drake called upon Dragonite to battle Charizard, Squirtle, Tauros, and Pikachu in turn, finally succumbing to Pikachu’s Thunder attack. Drake was extremely impressed with Ash and his Pokémon and presented Ash with the Winner’s Trophy as proof of his victory.
