i heard a cover of ‘dance on a volcano’ from the ‘trick of the tail’ album earlier this morning that fucking blew me away. but i forget the guy’s name so i can’t find it. he converged like three genesis songs together into one supersong and didn’t miss a lick a doing it.
it’s 8:30 at night. melania is seated alone by the fireplace in a burgundy silk robe, drinking a glass of cabernet. the rain patters lightly on the window pane as she gazes out onto the whitehouse lawn. the security lights show the perfectly manicured grass, a rich green fescue. a deep, bourgeois sigh escapes her lips and she thinks of don… of how it used to be… of how it is now…
because yes its a bouzouki too…btw Chiotis once went head to head with Jimi …with Jimi stating that the title of best string artist should go to Mano and not Jimi.
hendrix was most likely just being modest and paying respect to another guitarist. really though the styles are quite different and i doubt hendrix believed anyone (at the time) was comparable to him and how he played.
I invite you all to listen right to the end…not everyones cup of tea to be certain, but my glob this man had fingers forged by some divine maniac…
As for Misirlou is was originally recorded in 1927 in the hash and opium dens of Athens, some of which still exist today. I reference Dick Dale’s version cause of the bouzouki, which I am partial to on account of my heritage.
as I said, I confused the whole thing by thinking hendrix’s admission was in context to the dick dale guy. But this other Greek dude is clearly better than hendrix, so hendrix’s admission makes sense now.
I love Jimi anyway; no-one can take away the moment I heard purple haze for the very first time on some uni friends floor after having smoked a blunt. I cried from the beauty.
Anyway - Here is another kind of tune I kinda like.
MagsJ likes this song very much so-much-so, that it has inspired me to put a playlist together, to play at my next family gathering, so I’ll be impressing my family but no friends, as my family are my friends… the cat likes it too, when I played it just now.
