I found an Easter egg; Chase tells of the origin of the show and that he knew no gangsters whatsoever but grew up in Jersey and would watch the Untouchables with his father.
In a later season, Melfi reproaches Bogdanovich character about his puerile interest in her mob boss patient, and he says something like lets chalk it up to the fact that my fathers was a rabid Untouchables fan.

Re: Sasha Baron Cohen - it must suck to have as ones only marketable skill the capacity to abuse peoples trust in order to humiliate them on screen, and then to have to tell yourself that you’re fucking these people over for moral reasons.
The Irishman is a masterpiece, but in the premodern sense. Classical clarity for which the art had not been made ready before the Sopranos. And yet this is not the Sopranos, this is free flowing cinema as we know it from Scorsese, but just … nice. Kind on the viewer. And yet no less gangsterlic. Joe Pesci in certainly his most kingly role to date.
Strangely comparable in lucidity Tarantinos latest. The calm of this thing. The plot is too good to say anything about. Just that there’s more than one Irishman involved.
