D.D Dumbo is the solo project of Oliver Hugh Perry. This is one of my favourite genres.
I did a 2-year course in audio engineering back in the day and every month we had to bring in a musician or band to record in a professional studio. I used to get criticized all the time for bringing in quirky, experimental musicians to record. Most of the other students brought in bands who thought they were the next AC/DC… We just got one of the first monster 24-track desks in the country and they wanted to record AC/DC clone bands on it. I used to ask my recording buddies what we were going to do with the remaining 23 tracks. I would have loved to have someone like D.D Dumbo to record.

The 360 videos have been filmed in 360 degrees so you can put your cursor on the video and move it around: left, right, up and down. If the video buffers, lower the quality or set it to auto (in settings).
THE CAT EMPIRE – THE RHYTHM
Pity the quality of these old vids got destroyed when YouTube updated its format… still… it’s just bearable enough to listen to. youtube.com/watch?v=niywKqEuXvk

[tab]This is an excerpt from an interview with David Le’aupepe, the singer/writer.
“…[“Persevere” is about] my best buddy’s baby who just died, this beautiful, innocent fucking baby. And he’s saying, ‘God isn’t a vindictive mother fucker, contrary to what you may believe. Contrary to what the world believes.’ This is a deeply, faithful, intelligent, Christian man with wisdom beyond any of mine.
In my opinion back then, he was cutting God too much slack. But he had this completely different set of core values in relation to God. Part of that was so inspiring and also infuriating to me. I sort of felt dwarfed in the shadow of this guy’s wisdom and grace and belief and faith. I was almost envious that he could manifest that, even in light of the death of his child…”
The guy he’s speaking about played piano on Persevere.[/tab]
If you walk a couple of hundred metres/yards to the right of the vid image and roll down the small steep cliff, you’ll end up in Chakras old backyard. I’ve moved further into the valley but still take regular constitutionals along the winding path above my old place. Oh, and that’s Django in the vid. He and I share a deep-seated hatred of brush turkeys.

John Farnham was a 60’s teen pop idol but best known for his 80’s anthems. The first and last tracks (You’re the Voice and Age of Reason) were often sung by 40-80,000 people during sports events and political gatherings for years and used to send shivers down my spine. The power of large groups of people concentrated on one thing is mind-blowing – which is why they keep us divided. I’ll stop there before I explode into a political rant so…. back to the musak. For derleydoo who said he liked John Farnham. I prefer the organic energy of live recordings but some people prefer the clarity of studio recordings so I’ve included both.
2017! Two years ago I asked if it was alright to ask for Help - you insensitive Aussie bastard! It was a difficult time! Thank you. You made an old man very happy!
Yeah, well I’m not a big John Farnham fan so it took me that long to come around. I still feel a little ashamed knowing I posted that. I mean, what next? Air Supply? Anyway, glad you liked it.
