Has 'group think' become a root philosophy??

Has the concept of group think enveloped all of humanity?

What are the candidates for common denominators?

  1. Pursuit of prosperity.

  2. Insert here

Pursuit of Prosperity

On the surface a noble pursuit … certainly for those individuals on the lower rung of society … or not even yet on a rung … in developed countries. Certainly for those third world countries where individuals are only able to observe prosperity on TV, internet, smart phone and so on.

Yet … just below the surface the pursuit of prosperity is a recipe for disaster.

How so?

a) The pursuit of prosperity respects no borders.

b) The pursuit of prosperity has no upper limit.

c) The essence of the pursuit of prosperity is to grab more than the next guy … if one is not getting more one is slipping down the ranks.

Though the ‘virus’ has not yet penetrated 100% of humanity. Dan … one of the mods … has made several posts about his dream to turn the family farm into a space for a community of like minded people. Like minded = content with a simple lifestyle.

St Augustine argued the case … prosperity leads to depravity. He used his personal observations of the decay … rot … within the Roman Empire during his lifetime.

Is history repeating itself yet again? :auto-swerve:

Like minded people = group think :evilfun:

Or it can be.

“group think” is not some specific position … it’s the act of accepting or rejecting a position without personally evaluating it … it’s avoiding thinking.

And amusingly … it’s always the other guys who are in the group think box … it’s never me.

Is it possible to have a situation whereby everyone gets richer? We could for example state that the world has got richer. There is a lacking where markets are too poor, but that substantiates a low market labor value. You would think it better to maximize the markets such that everyone can buy your given product? Thing is, if that makes the product cost more I.e. if you increase wages, then less of the market can afford to buy it because of that, so its something of a paradoxical situation.

The oneupmanship then jumps in, to drive more people to try to buy more products like cars etc. The more work and hours people do to get their shizzle, the greater the output and lower the costs.

Just one problem with all of that capitalism and the markets stuff [apart from market forces not affecting the rich bosses etc, they basically tell the markets what they think their wage should be from a business]; it ignores the fact that there will soon be machines which will be taking 60% of jobs. We either stop thinking like that and find ways to make the technology create employment [socialism], or the markets will fold in on themselves.

Everyone gets richer via technology.
Due to computers, even the poor-class has more wealth than ancient upper-class individuals.

Trixie … you are both very smart and very consistent … you know that very few ILP members can penetrate your depth of thought … so you play … toy … with those that try.

Much like a cat that plays … toys … with a mouse before he/she eats the poor little mouse for lunch.

I suspect Amorphos enjoys the cat and mouse game as well … there’s somethang about him folks gotta love.

lol yes, like if one thinks that the freedom to be known and located at all times, is better. - Indeed, one freedom incurs an other loss of it.

Thing is, whatever is planned, can we not be sure that the world will do something different to that? Eventually politics and authority will fade, it is inevitable.
