another ethical predicament

After a Romanian dance show a friend of mine was asked with two men from the audience to participate in a film involving sex. It wasn’t strictly porn because it had some kind of artistic meaning and there was only a short moment of coitus but you kind of saw through that because their performances were nothing if not meant to sexually tease and arouse people. He declined politely because he did not want to be known that way but this is five years ago and he is now talking about that this is the way the world is going to be, that you have to get out there and go beyond the borders of what is ethically accepted by yourself and be barbaric. If porn is barbaric is maybe a question but most people would say yes at least partly, that’s part of it. Its unfortunate for him now that the pornographic market is collapsed because of the internet now he has no more fame incentive maybe he shouldav just gone for it he would be famous probably. Now he is unemployed and without a career.

What was his ethical objection? Surely you don’t think there’s some objective principle outlawing, out of hand, participation in pornographic videos?

Not objective! No the objection is rather subjective, against too much objectification of the subject.

I think he just felt embarrassed then but this is of course the same as ethical objection and it means that if one changes his ethical conditions, one can influence the amount of emotional resistance, or so he is now pondering, while he is trying to get his life on the rails again. But I question that one can find a barbarian in one if one doesn’t have it in one.

 Well said. Yes, he is not comfortable to make himself into an object but it happens inevitably so it is tragic he doesn’t submit to it because it would give him experience as a subject.

He is now driving a Masserati and has 2 under age girlfriends.

Still maybe not ethical but epical.

How’d he manage to do that? The Masserati, I mean.

He employs women part time and gets 50 percent.

I dont tell what he employs them for but it involves a lot of pathetic men.

I tried to get my foot in the business…as a boss of course and not an underling…Didn’t work out so well. Life keeps giving me terrible co-boss crackheads and insane people. I’d give anything to have a co-boss that is reasonable. Say what you want about Manni, but he is one of the more reasonable people I know.
