Sorry for being such a dumbass; but how do I get a painting from my documents to the visual arts threads here?
Use a website like http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.imageshack.com to host your picture. Then take the URL it gives you for the picture and post it as an image on the forum.
In order for a file in your “My Documents” folder to be shown on a forum post here, you need to first “upload” that file to a “host”. A “host” basically provides a service for files - like a host in the real world provides a service such as a dinner party. There are various different such hosts which are free to use - two of which are mentioned above. Once you “upload” your file to one of those hosts, they will provide you with a URL (something like lskfhgb.com/yourfile) which you must then include in your post here at ILP, so that the content of your file is “pulled” from the host and displayed here at ILP too.

I joined Photobucket. The site uploaded my artwork and gave me a URL. Attempting to place the work at ILP, I found that the URL did not deliver it to that destination. Thoroughly confused!!!
