World War II Was a Christian War?

I am very shocked Serendipper could come up with such conclusions that WWII was a Christian War.

Agree?

No… but an interesting read.

It was a war primarily between Christian nations with primarily Christian leaders. It was fought between cultures which are saturated with Christian values which influenced how people thought conscioiusly and unconsciously about justice, rights, goodness, evil, honor and a host of other things. Sometimes wars in religions name are perhaps more fundamentally about resources. Going in the other direction wars about whatever are directly and indirectly influenced by the dominant religions. Even modern atheist ways of thinking build in part off ideas coming out of the Abrahamic religions. It is not a binary issue, there are degrees of WW2 being a Christian war. To put that another way, it is not a question wth a yes no answer, but one that different people should have different opinions about how much is was or how much it was not a Christian war.

It is facile to attribute all violence commited by Muslims to Islam, or all Christians to Chrisitanity or all X to their belief system. But we are saturated by the ideas from these things, the categories we divide reality into, etc.

Agree.

Definitely not all but the fact is Islam the ideology is the main element that drives most evil and violent acts directly or indirectly by SOME [not all] Muslims who are evil prone.
Jihadists who had killed often quote verses from the Quran to justify their killing and the fundamental reason why the kill innocent people is because they are disbelievers first and foremost.

This is very objectively evident by the loads and many verses in the Quran that permits and exhorts Muslims to kill and oppress non-Muslims where there is a threat against Islam the religion. Note the following few verses among the many other similar;

2:216. Warfare [l-qitālu] is ordained [kutiba: prescribed] for you [Muslims], though it is hateful unto you [Muslims]; but it may happen that ye [Muslims] hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.

2:244. Fight in the way of Allah, and know that Allah is Nearer, Knower.

9:111. Lo! Allah hath bought [ish’tarā; purchased] from the believers [Muslims] their lives [anfusahum; nafs] and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs they [Muslims] shall fight in the way [sabil] of Allah and shall slay and be slain.
It is a promise which is binding on Him [Muslim] in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. Who fulfilleth His covenant [3HD: biʿahdihi; promise] better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain [BY3: bibayʿikumu bāyaʿtum] that ye [Muslims] have made, for that is the supreme triumph.

No other mainstream religion contain the above sort of verses that exhort believers to fight [kill] non-believers.

Another problem is the ideology and religion of Islam is supposed to be a total way of life for a Muslim, which covers the political, economic, social, cultural, ethical etc. Thus most of the evil and violent acts committed by Muslims are somehow related to Islam.
I agree if a Muslim kill the spouse out of jealousy, it may not be attributable to the religion, but somehow the killer will track back to some verses in the Quran/Ahadith to kill the spouse.

Therefore it is very justified to blame -where the link is determined- the religion of Islam is responsible for the evil and violent acts committed by Muslims.
