Leaders, governance and populism

Generally speaking … across time and space … all people … being incapable of understanding the complexities of the world they live(d) in espouse(d) absurdities. Of course, JSS being an exception.

The ignorance mentioned above is in large part a consequence of the brevity of the human life span.

Nonetheless, peoples across time and space demanded … craved … answers. Thus the emergence of myths, legends, religions and so on.

The world today conforms to this timeless pattern.

For example, attributing success or failure … the good … the bad … and the ugly … to one individual or at most to a couple of individuals persists.
Tolstoy illustrated this phenomenon eloquently in the latter part of his book “War and Peace” using the example of Bonaparte. He argued that attributing success or failure to the breath (logos, anima, soul, qi) of one individual is naive … being the consequence of a general ignorance of the immense mosaic of complexities in play at all times and places.

Honoring my disdain for details … and of course my lack of access to the yuge data bank … here’s a brief summary.

There are three trajectories in play at the moment … on all continents:

  1. Chaos, destruction … and more chaos and destruction.
  2. Compromise, cooperation, peace and harmony.
  3. Disinterest and passivity … and more disinterest and passivity.

The first two trajectories get all the air time and one or the other is expected to determine the final outcome.

The paradox being, the third trajectory will ultimately determine the final outcome. The first two alternatives desperately cling to the hope the third trajectory will remain stable forever.

The law of unintentional consequences is setting in.

As David and Goliath continue their battle to the death in the Roman Arena … the crowd is becoming more and more aroused and one day will wake up.

Chaos and destruction is great because if we read the Kali Yuga (Maha-Yuga) there is always rebirth.

After a forest is consumed by fire new life comes into being out of its ashes.

ZS … seems we are on the same page after all.
