who the hell needs rules when you can just make stuff up

This morning the finance committee senator Orrin hatch pushed through
two of Herr Trumpfs cabinet choices even though it was against the rules
the way he did it…

The rules in the finance committee require for any vote on cabinet members
to have at least one member of the opposition party present, this morning due
to continue concerns about ethics by these two choices, Steve Mnuchin for
treasury and Tom Price for health and human both have some serious ethical
problems due their false and misleading statement given at their hearings…
Price for example has been tied to inside trading
and Mnuching has been tied to robo signing which is against the law and both
gave congress misleading and or lied in front of congress about their roles in these
matters…

so the vote for these two men came up for a vote this morning and the dem’s
boycotted the meeting, leaving the committee with no members of the
opposition party and so he should have been unable to vote on the matter,
but hay rules don’t matter anymore, so Hatch simply voided this long standing
rule about this and held his vote anyway… both men were voted into a senate
vote by a committee vote of 14-0… so once again the GOP is about party
and not country because voting for people who have ethical problems should be
at least a problem but not in this new world where rules have no meaning
and you can vote for the worst criminal to head of a cabinet post…
concern for what may be right for this country is completely irrelevant as
what counts is what is beneficial for the party… you had the communist party
and you had the Nazi party and now you have the GOP party…welcome
to 2017…

So if the Democrats just refuse to go to any of the committee meetings, no vote should ever be held and Trump should never have a cabinet, is what you’re saying. And of course you approve of this because you’re a Democrat and such a thing could never ever ever come back to haunt you, like the Biden rule or getting rid of the filibuster for cabinet appointments in the first place did.

That’s what you’re doing here; You’re literally bitching that it’s unfair Trump gets to have a cabinet if Democrats refuse to show up to vote on it.

K: and ignoring the fact it is against the rules to have a vote without
an opposition member present… ignoring the same way Hatch ignored the
rules…

Who’s the ideological puritan now Peter? :icon-rolleyes:

K: well lets, see, all I want are the rules that are place enforced and so if that
makes me a “ideological puritan” then so be it…

And there’s no rule about members having to show up to cabinet meetings? Again- the Dems got rid of the filibuster specifically to avoid situations like this. You don’t get to deny a President his cabinet by refusing to show up to work. It is stupid as fuck to support such a stance.

K: you don’t get to deny a president a supreme court choice by refusing to show up to work…
it is stupid as fuck to support such a stance…

Burn.

Tell Joe Biden that, it was his idea.
