Attention must be paid.

I have been thinking about his a lot of late:

“Then make Charley your father, Biff. you can’t do that can you? I don’t say he is a great
man. Willy Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He’s not
the finest character that ever lived. But he’s a human being, and a terrible thing is
happening to him. So attention must be paid. He’s not to be allowed to fall into his grave
like an old dog. Attention, attention must be paid to such a person…”

we are human beings, all of us, and attention must be paid…
for each of us has value, even if the value is not readily apparent
to us, so attention must be paid to all of us…

we are surrounded by life and attention must be paid…
life is not such a certainty that we take it for granted…
and I mean not just our life, but all life… attention must be paid…

we have governments and society and civilization but in the end,
in the end, all that counts is that we pay attention to life…

we are so lost in our minds and our day to day efforts,
we forget… attention must be paid to us, all of us…

because a person is not famous or hasn’t made a lot of money
or hasn’t been in the paper, doesn’t mean we can forget or
pretend they don’t exist… attention must be paid…
because they are human and they are life and we are bound
and connected by being human and by being life…

we are equal in value in life and that creates parity in life…
so the old man walking down the street and the dog barking
and the tree shading you, all have the same value of being life…
attention must be paid to life…

as the universe doesn’t know or care about us
and pays us no attention…

we must pay attention because there is no one else…

attention must be paid…

Kropotkin

You are right that to say that the universe does not care about us and so we should do that our selves. But we tend to care only for
those personally close to us instead of humanity per se. And therein lies the problem. And we tend to care even less for those with
different ideologies or world views to our own. These are generalisations which I am making but there is still a lot of truth to them
