Defending the UK's Atlantic Super Connection

atlanticsuperconnection.com

How is the UK expecting to defend this 1,500 mile underwater cable from Russian Submarines? Russia already likes to screw around with the transatlantic internet lines, leaving submarines in the vicinity if them- not a whole lot short of a actor war to dislodge them.

I think this idea on the science level is clever, and on the strategic level is suicidally retarded. Even factoring a tense situation with Russia or even another future state out of the picture, Iceland is geologically unstable- like, that place erupts, new islands pop up, earthquakes. Isn’t exactly the easiest waters to work in.

I’m thinking it’s fine as a stopgap, but the UK is gonna be retarded enough to depend on it, and just at the worst possible moment- your gonna lose this option. Country will have rolling blackouts and brownouts during a mass eruption of lava or Russian nationalism, and well… hey fuckheads, you’ve been warned. Wiser to just keep it nuclear for the 21st century, you can control that within your borders. You can’t control a volcano anymore than you can control Russia in its death throws as it continues it’s exit off the world stage.
