Aristotle's Natural Teleology

Why can’t a natural teleology be the case for nature and evolution that is without the assumption of a belief in god?

Isn’t this still viable in science and philosophy?

You have the likes of James Lovelock with his Gaia hypothesis and I have to believe that a natural teleology theory is right in place with it.

Ultimately, the forces of real, actual evolution – and gravity – are one and the same.

Attraction and accumulation of similar force. That is how compound forms arose. All of their natural teleology is magnetic; the universe is made of many electrons, etc.
