Descartes' Meditations - His first argument

Hi all, this is my first post here. I’m studying physics with philosophy at university and i’m in my second year. I’m currently writing an essay on sense-data, and i have a few points that i’d appreciate any input on.

(I was intending on posting each distinct topic relating to this essay as a different thread, to keep each coherent; would that be correct ettiquete?)

Anyhoo, the first issue I wanted to raise concerns Descartes’ skepticism; to me it seems that Descartes’ first argument - where he shows the possibility of doubting everything except the existence of a thinking being - is a logically sound one. While we do not have to accept that this is in fact the case, I feel that we cannot disprove the possibility.

I was wondering if anyone has any arguments that disprove this position.

Thanks in advance
