Favorite Works of Art

The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun

- William Blake

One of my favorites.

Egon Schiele, the original selfie narcissist. Favorite out of all 20th century art. Dont know how to re-size images, but you can just zoom in and out to see them all properly.

Just a few. Too many to choose from.

A selfie narcissist like me? Seems like a cool dude, man.

I’ve always been one for realistic art. Some pieces by Howard David Johnson:

Tasteful, no?

Yea. But…Those are always static, without feeling, no intruige and neccesarily lying.

OoooooOOOoooOoooo

Dont get me wrong.

Some of my favorite works from John William Waterhouse:

Ophelia:

Hylas and the Nymphs:

Boreas:

Lamia and the Soldier:

The Soul of the Rose:

Waterhouse is, by far, one of my favorite artists. His ability to capture the ethereal beauty of women is proof of his genius.
What I appreciate a lot was his finesse in beautifully depicting feminine subtleties, like the endearing posing and placement of the women’s hands of the last two images. In the “Lamia and the Soldier” painting, the love and chemistry between the two is keenly portrayed and felt.
Some of the most beautiful depictions of European women I’ve seen in paintings.

A beautiful man himself, physically, in his youth.

Henri Cartier-Bresson was born in Chanteloup-en-Brie, Seine-et-Marne, France, The Cartier-Bresson family lived in a prosperous upper class neighbourhood, where the young Henri was raised in a traditional French bourgeois fashion with strict Catholic principles.

If I have a book of his work, I will wait until I have some “real” time, so that I may search intensely each frame, they all tell their own tale.

Not exactly a painting, but this still-shot above from the Titanic movie was, extremely, tasteful. A very profound look in Rose’s eyes, like she is gazing into the beatific vision.

A very beautiful woman herself, too:

I have an affinity for The Lady of Shalott poem. I no longer bother reading novels, as I feel I don’t need to.
I like to consider art as something that’s meant to exist, but recognise the likely truth that art is just a coincidence of reality.
