The worst boss in the game.

To me it is one of the best examples of how Dark Souls is also comedy.

Some people see the game as nothing but an unnecessarily difficult slog for no purpose. It’s true, the game does make you work through it, under very thin premise. I enjoyed and was entertained by that process of becoming proficient. What the game lacks in story it more than makes up for with atmosphere and aesthetic. It was more immersive and more adventurous to me than most other games with “good stories,” e.g. The Last of Us.

An allusion to our own storied Satyr was also fully in mind when I posted this thread, in light of recent drama.

Have you played Demon’s Souls? It’s a much better game (also much darker – Dark Souls and especially its sequel Dark Souls 2 are everything but dark . . . thankfully, they fixed this in Bloodborne, which I’m so looking forward to.)

I cannot really decide between Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls. The latter’s world design is superior and gave the game/adventure more coherence in my opinion. Demon’s Souls is equally as unforgettable in other respects, though, for example the darker atmosphere you pointed out. Ultimately, Dark Souls II fell pretty short of either of its predecessors, yet it was still a good game.

I have tried to switch over from console to PC gaming since I built a custom machine for myself a few years ago, but all the exclusive (and timed exclusive) release deals are extremely annoying. The only way to play Bloodborne is to buy a PS4.

Well, if you want to play all the best games, you will have to possess all the consoles, there’s no way around that. I had to accept that long time ago.

You must admit that Bloodborne has some real fabulous music:

It’s even better than that creepy-ass music from Demon’s Souls opening cinematic:

DS2 had some seriously disappointing music. Such a letdown.

Yes!

How about entering Ash Lake for the first time?
