Do you want the best?

The origins of the imperative, "know thyself", are lost in the sands of time, but the age-old examination of human consciousness continues here.

Do you want the best?

Their is value and it's associated actions and circumstances - for example enjoyment (or other spiritual value), achievement, and wealth. Let us consider 'the best' to be the highest value - therefore spiritual, and of the greatest desirability. The elated mind, sacred and haloed. You having a very, very good time. Do you want it? Are you earnestly and actively pursuing it now? And if not, why not?

For me, to touch it is to want it. But to walk away is to forget it's lustre, and want to stay away. Pursuit of the highest values requires exposure to life's dangers, so I'm hiding? I can't figure it out. But stay put long enough and the minotaur will find you. We need to fly. Why aren't we?
