Charles Xavier

Why Charles Xavier could have been the worst villain in all of comic book history; and probably was:

With his psychic powers, he could theoretically reproduce or mimic the effects of any other mutants powers, and probably do it better than them.

He could theoretically absorb the souls and powers of any mutant on the face of the planet and in existence, making himself into a God.

The fact that this isn’t mentioned at all in the comics shows that he had either never entertained the thought, or repressed it so immediately that when he did start learning about it, would not have been able to control his powers and probably would have killed all of his friends and enemies in one go.

These powers put all other mutants to shame and he only uses a base amount of his psychic powers through telepathy, mind-reading/ripping, etc.

In the movie, X-Men Legends of Future Past, a point was brought up that I never picked up on from a single one of the comics I read: that Charles Xavier had control issues; had to control everything.

What’s it say about the richest mutant in history wanting to relate to humans on their level and not wanting to erase them from existence or make them cow in subservience, yet can’t help them fix their problems from their levels of existence?

After absorbing powers from every mutant, even if he didn’t destroy them all, he’d want to test those powers out, wouldn’t he? And would he be able to control them through the ‘testing’ of them, if he couldn’t even curb his own need for control beyond his own self?

After gaining too much power in such a way, certainly even his friends would try to approach him about it and ask him to curb his growth, to which he might not respond well. Even if he were to admit a lack of control in his growth, that he would continue to grow and learn at an increased rate; even if he grew and learned through pure osmosis; the end result would be the ability to use the powers and abilities of all ‘supers’ in existence throughout the omniverse/omnireality and would be the greatest threat to existence that there ever was just on the rush of power alone.

The fact that he could use his psychic powers to fix his own body, to heal it never occurred to him? Why? The ability to use his psychic powers for flight? Why not?

And at the point of being one of the greatest psychic in existence with control issues, doesn’t that kind of paint the society around him in a more disturbing light?

Ever wonder why Magneto is his enemy and yet doesn’t ever make a move directly against Charles? Some sort of ‘friendship’ or another. They merely disagreed on methodology, is all. Magneto thought to do things like so many previous evolutions had done, by staking their claim as the next evolution and proving that they had as much of a right to exist as anything else, Charles sought to bypass the natural method of it all.

Which was truly the villain? Charles Xavier probably didn’t care for the fact that Wolverine could outlive them all, would be forever young. If you watch the movie Legends of Future Past, Wolverine has gray hair, and they tamper with time and space. If Wolverine ages so gracefully that he has seen all of America’s Wars firsthand without gaining a single bit of gray in his hair, how does he change so rapidly since meeting Charles Xavier? And couldn’t Charles Xavier at a certain point will himself to be immortal by sheer mental power alone, since he seemed to be able to pull his cells and atoms back together after being obliterated by the Phoenix, Jean Grey. Kind of like how Cable’s power works, except that if not for holding his body together and having to do it all the time, his power would be more adaptable to everything like Apocalypses, which is funny considering that due to fan-made connections, Apocalypse actually uses Cables brother from a reality-displaced Cyclops and Jean Grey who are the parents of both Cable and his brother who was used for the soul of apocalypse much like an inverse of how Venom uses its foes to fuel itself and intended finally to use Wolverine to live forever. Apocalypse also wanted immortality. And, perhaps, Charles Xavier never had time to think about immortality until such a point as he saw he could come back from obliteration AND change the course of history through others mutant powers to avoid their demise from unbeatable ‘sentinels’ that were painted as the enemy.

It would kind of explain why we don’t have mutant powers in the reality we live in, if such realities existed before us.

I kind of like looking at the darker side of some of the ‘heroes’ that people looked up to.

At least Wolverine was aware of his animal nature and worked to keep it in check. Charles Xavier probably thought himself beyond such things and would have fallen so much harder when he actually did fall.

Actually, while philosophical in value, I think this might be more appropriate in the Psychology section. :-k

I admit to not thinking it out beforehand.
