Love Accepts

To know me at any given moment
Is to know the moment and not me.
You, who in my darkness hid your love
As if an act defines my total heart--
You who fled in terror when I fell
And marred the image you had made of me.
You never knew me.

To judge me at any given moment
Is to judge the moment and not me.
You who saw my brightest hopes confirmed
Within some second's possibility--
You who ran to my embrace with joy
And found me human in the sport of grace--
You never knew me.

To love me at any given moment
Is to love the moment and not me.
"We must love one another or die." W.H.Auden
I admit I'm an asshole. Now, can we get back to the conversation?
From the mad poet of McKinley Ave.
