Abstractions

Could I coax opinion from the stars;
Could I discover destiny in maps
Of seasons or in holy nimbers;
Could I unravel from the web of lost days
My final need or ultimate desire;
Could I enlist all wandering spirits
And bid them do my moment’s whim;
Could I descend or climb to other world
Of universal mind or single thought;
Could I escape all memory and thought–
I dare not take the time.
I have only time for sliences of love.
