[Poem] Beloved

Every moment that passes brings me closer to my estranged love,
From who’s bosom I’ve been to long departed in this waking madness.
Where thoughts are phantoms of truth,
And life a bond that binds me in ageless suffering.
For those youthful visions of hope have ceased to burn,
As the philosophical mind breeds clarity with reason
And extinguishes the aspiration of base desire:
To become greater, then ones nature will allow.
Beseeched on all sides by shapes’n’colours a senseless mix to fill the void,
Bewitching the senses with their tingling cool caress,
But little more then a cesspool of mystery for those who long to know.
Some gain futile hope, born of wasted faith in imaginary Fathers,
A cartoon pantheon of gods and demons-
Caricatures to entertain the bewildered masses.
Yet educated eyes can see their true form locked in subconscious desires,
But others pay the highest price, losing their life in a game of blindman’s bluff.
Listlessly I spend my days poised for the enviable clandestine fate,
That final exhilaration to grasp the fascination of all wonders,
When at last the venom, life is removed from a poisoned Soul,
And memories have been blown clean by the winds of time,
When finally I’m held once again by my beloved, Oblivion.
