What, if anything, are wrong with these syllogisms?

Postby LogicalMetaphysician » Sat Dec 02, 2017 4:02 am

What, if anything is wrong with this syllogism?

Definition of existence:
2 a : the state or fact of having being especially independently of human consciousness and as contrasted with nonexistence

Definition of being:
b (1) : something that is conceivable and hence capable of existing
Definition of nonexistence
: absence of existence : the negation of being

Claim: Everything exists
Proposition: The absence of existence is itself absent of existence
Proposition: nonexistence does not exist (A=A, Tautology)
Proposition: nonexistence is nonexistant (A=A, Tautology)
Proposition: If nonextence is nonexistant, then everything exists.
Conclusion: Everything Exists

Bonus. What, if anything is wrong with this syllogism?

Claim: Unicorns exist
Proposition: If everything exists, then unicorns exist.
Proposition: Everything exists
Conclusion: Unicorns exist

Also, I posted this in another forum, and someone made the claim that in order to be a syllogism it can only have two premises and one conclusion. Is that correct? Merriam-Webster and Wikipedia seem to disagree on this matter.

Nobody likes logic around here anymore? That is disappointing. Where is my old debating buddy Faust? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Faust! I have bait for you!

Yeah, I didn't realize that when you are new then your posts have to be approved, so I thought there was a glitch and rewrote the whole thing lol. I have found no way to delete a thread here.
