- People are not wicked. A person may be moral or immoral. A person may be wicked, but humanity or people are niether moral or immoral - but a person has the potential to be either.

- A) Its impossible for someone to not want what they want. You can’t want something, while at the same time not wanting it. B) If the individuals of a society did not work because they did not want to, there would still be a ‘group’ of individuals functioning as a ‘society’; that is, there could still be individuals interacting with other individuals.

- A) Firstly, a society doesnt ‘survive’. At least not in the sense that an individual survives. A society is merely a group of individuals interacting with one another, presumablly sharing some goals and values, perhaps not. The range of the kinds of existences possible to a ‘society’ is wide. B) A society of people who meet once a month with the express pupose of initiating the use of physical force upon one another or others has a existence which is of course dependent on the contintued forcing of people to do something for the society to survive. In my judgement, any society which uses physical force for some purpose other than to retaliate against the iniation of the use of physical force is morally depraved and it should not exist.

Has anyone else heard of Maslow’s Ladder of Human Needs? It might just apply here.
I agrue from the point of rationality. ‘Why would one ever need to harm another unless out of self-defense?’ One doesn’t. It isn’t rational. Shouldn’t one be trying to make alliances and secure one’s self? It benefits no one to be harmful emotionally of physically. Thus, without having to resort to God and religious morality, one can conclude that what isn’t rational, and contrary to human nature is wrong.
It is human nature to be rational. It is our rationality tht seperates us from the animals and allows us to judge right from wrong. All of the higher functions of our consciousness, such as logic, stem from our rationality. If it is our nature to be rational, and what is rational is good then this follows: People are, by nature, essentially good.
Not everyone chooses to be rational. By denying rationality people do wrong.
The whole idea of choosing to be rational, and our rationality being what separates us from the animals, this is the authority from which I repeatedly say: One has to choose to be human.
