practicing religion, not philosophy

Yeah, you’re right, I can’t do anything about your stupidity or Carleas’ stupidity on this site.

None the less, I will still work to get rid of shits like you and Carleas in the world.

You call that working?

You’re a big man on ILP.

What a shithole. :open_mouth:

This idiot has a university degree. Holy shit.

Your eyes- I can see them opening. What do you think you’ll be like in another 10 years of this?

In 10 years, I’m dead. In 10 years, you’re still an idiot.

Not idiotic enough to rise to this obvious bait.

What bait? I’m an old fart. I don’t expect to live another 10 years.

facing growing criticism on Monday, Trump defended his decision not to give
travelers any advance warning of the new restrictions which he again
characterized as a “ban”

taken from Trumpf twitter feed…

Twitter Donald J Trump 5:31 am- 30 Jan, 2017

if the ban were announced with a one week notice, the “bad” dudes would rush
into our country during that week. A lot of bad “dudes” out there…

also on Monday, Sean Spicer told a group of George Washington students
“the ban deal with seven countries”

so both Herr Trumpf and Spicer referred to it as a “ban” in separate instances…
what interest me more then the “ban” which it is, is the tying up of one
political with who one is… in other word, people are emotional invested
in being right and their entire self worth is tied up in being right and part
of that is in people’s selection of politics…if your “Team” wins, you are
validated and if your team loses, you suffer a personal loss…
your self worth is tied up in being with the winning team, be it the
dem’s or the GOP…perhaps that is why the people here who deny that
Herr trumpf did in fact put a ban on Muslims… this makes their side
look like a loser because this ban is not only un-American but is
illegal as Yates said yesterday…but as I pointed out, those who
who deny Herr Trumpf did in fact sign a muslim ban despite the many
times he has stated he was in favor and in fact, did call it a 'ban" on
Monday…those are practicing religion if they insist that Herr Trumpf
did not sign a ban and not philosophy… as philosophy deals with facts
and religion deals with beliefs that exist regardless of the truth in the matter…
if they insist on their denial, then they are practicing religion because
the truth is it is a ban and Herr Trumpf has already said so…
the problem for these people is this, if they are wrong on this matter,
what else are they wrong about? and this is the terror faced by
those on the right… they have their emotional investment into
their politics and what if they are wrong? what would that do to their
psyche and all their other beliefs? the danger in being wrong on one
matter is so great they live in fear of that… that is why they never
compromise and they never give in and they don’t tolerate because
any one of those can threaten their very mental image of who they are…
this is why they are practicing religion instead of philosophy because
there is less danger of being wrong in religion and any time they are wrong
that could threaten their belief system…and threaten to destroy their
entire mental image of themselves…

Kropotkin

It’s obviously a ban. It’s a ban of travel from those 7 countries. Not a Muslim ban. Just like how when Obama banned travel in from Iraq, that was not a Muslim ban. Just like how Kuwait, Algeria, and Brunei banning travel in from Israel is not a Jew ban. Just like how if some of these 7 countries respond by banning travel in from the United States, that will not be a Christian ban.

This is not hard unless you need it to be for some reason.

You have a degree from a real university?

LISTEN HERE, YOU- hah, I’m just kidding. That’s not really pushing my buttons. Maybe try calling me gay or something.

Well, you have to admit from any perspective, since it was the Saudis which have had the only terrorist attacks on US soil from a foreign government (2) (aside from the British burning down the White House over 100 years ago ) that the Saudis should be number 1 on the list. Apparently!?!?

Yes. There is extreme hypocrisy in the US government

It’s not like I have an inside source or anything, but that was 16 years ago. It’s possible or likely that Saudi Arabia isn’t a threat, even if they were in 2001. And it wasn’t the Saudi Government that did that; that’s just where those people happened to be from.

Okay, you’re gay and you’re a dumb fuck.

Eh. I might have felt a twinge of something there, I dunno. I’m probably half Irish, you could try going racial with it if you want.

That escalated quickly. Did I miss something?

You know what I mean. I hope.

“Well, he didn’t ban the vast majority of muslims, but most of the people he banned are muslims” doesn’t sound nearly as persuasive though.
