Holy shit I think I just put the pieces together. These recent Russian aircraft flying around Alaska are checking out one of those HAARP installations up there that is generating the saharan dust storms now over the south east U.S.

I feel a tremendous home sickness stirring in my soul and I know now that I need Don in my life. So, I have to contact him. Lol I knew it was good whatever it was about, and I sensed something darkly ironic about ‘the reception just for me’… but it never crossed my mind the song was about Castro’s take over of Cuba. Lol ‘I believe I just got the goodbye look’, he thinks as he’s taken behind the casino to be shot. And again, as always, there’s an inappropriate and mocking levity in the feel of the song that doesn’t match the theme. Violent Cuban revolution and don writes something that sounds like a paradise island dance party song. This fuckin guy.
Missed out on Steely Dan, back in the day - they were not particularly big in the UK. However, did purchase The Nightfly in 82. Excellent. Will have to visit Youtube and listen to a bit of SD. Best Album?
